Live Virtual Art Week for Families + Kids | Day 2
Overview
On the second day of The Broad's virtual art-making week,Spring into The Broad, joinGreetings from South Central’sfounder Karina Esperanza Yanez for an art-making activity inspired byOscar Murillo’sartworktrade today(2014–2015)from the Broad collection.
During this free virtual workshop, you and your family will create three mixed media banners using a variety of everyday materials, such as paper straws, coins, and paint, to make multi-layered, expressionistic marks.
A facilitator will show the artwork that inspired the activity, live from the museum, and participants will have the opportunity to share their creations with each other from home.
Supplies
What you'll need to participate:
- Paper/ Cardstock, various sheets (any color)
- Coins
- Paper Straws
- Fabric Scraps
- Bubble Wrap
- Letter Stencils
- Acrylic or Tempera Paint
- Newspaper (optional)
- Pencil/ Pen
For Ages 6 and Up
This art-making activity is suitable for children ages 6 and up. Younger children may benefit from the help of an adult.

About Spring into The Broad: Virtual Art-Making Workshops
Each day of spring break from Monday, March 29 to Friday, April 2, 2021, The Broad will present a one-hour virtual workshop for families. Each workshop will be hosted by a different community organization, who will facilitate an art activity inspired by works on view at the museum.

All workshops arefreeto attend and held over Zoom.
Workshops will be translated live into Spanish.
